About the Artist



David Geer is an award-winning professional artist from rural New York State. He began drawing as soon as he could hold a pencil, and was selling his pictures to classmates for a quarter a piece by the time he reached grade school. He began formal instruction in oil paint at the age of twelve, taking private lessons with nationally known artists including: Robert Warren, Bill Blackman and Charlie Carpenter, the later he largely credits for his love of painting. He studied painting at Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania and holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Studio Art with a concentration in Painting from that institution.

In additional to being a working artist David teaches a number of painting classes to both children and adults at The Art School in Vestal, NY.

He paints in a realistic style that emphasizes light and color to create mood and paints a vast variety of subjects from landscapes and still lives, to portraits and wildlife. He has exhibited nationally, participating and recieving awards from The Jericho Art Show, Bainbridge, NY; The Norwich Fine Arts Guild, Norwich, NY; The Williamsport-Lycoming Regional Art Exhibition, Williamsport, PA, and numerous others. He has exhibited at The Taber Museum, The Unadilla Historical Society Museum, Munson Williams Proctor Institute, Earlville Opera House, Canajoharie Library Gallery, Lycoming College Gallery, Lycoming Creative Arts Society Gallery, Ghost Fleet Gallery, Gallery 53, Arts Center of Old Forge, The New York State World War II Memorial Dedication as well as numerous art festivals throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. He has shown his work in Solo Exhibitions at The Collegetown Gallery, Williamsport, PA; The Remington Gallery, Ilion, NY; The Tea Room, Unadilla, NY; The Supper Club and Eaton Center both Norwich, NY; The Ninth Life Gallery, St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, and more. He is represented by Made-in-Chenango Gallery and Gift Shop, Norwich, NY and The Garret Art Gallery, Dushore, PA; and is a member of Arists-in-Cellophane a program that sells affordable art out of recycled cigarette vending machines.

David also enjoys traveling and whenever possible he incorporates his trips into his work. He has created, over the years, series of paintings of England and Scotland, Italy, and France, as well as paintings based on subjects throughout the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Deep South and Four Corners regions of the US.

Donations

David also is very active in donating his work to organizations to help them raise money. He has donated to the American Heart Association, American Legion and the American Legion Child Welfare Fund, The Northeast Regional Rotary Convention, the Public TV Art Auctions of WSKG based in Binghamton, NY and WCNY out of Syracuse, NY; as well as numerous small local organizations. His donations have help to raise well in excess of $8000
